All Eyez on Me

Feast yourself for one of the world’s best rappers of all time, Tupac as the story of his life is told and unfolded. On June 16, 2017, we got a taste of the untold and raw story of the long gone and legendary rap star. In the film, we get to see the truth come to light like never before about Tupac from him being a rapper, poet, activist, and an actor.

The film made more than people expected. Making $27M over it’s opening weekend. Even know it made more than expected that wasn’t enough to bring it to the number one spot. The All Eyez on Me Film came in third. The film was beat out by a bunch of cartoon cars, Cars 3 to be expect which landed the number one spot. Wonder Woman is still at the top of her game although the was bumped from number one to the number two spot.

You would think that all eyes would be on Tupac and his life, but they’ve been on Demetrius Shipp Jr., the actor whom played Tupac. Shipp had no acting experience what so ever before the film. Shipp is said to have beat out more than 4,000 people for the role of Tupac. Originally, Shipp was not going to send in an audition tape for the role, but was told to by his friend and he did so 30 minutes before the deadline.

The movie received both positive and negative reviews. Jada Pinkett Smith herself said that the movie was ‘’deeply hurtful’’. Some say that Shipp was casted well for the role, but the storytelling was off or wasn’t there at all. They also said as great as a storyteller that Tupac was that he needed so much better. Variety says ‘’ Highly worth seeing, because in its volatility and hunger, and the hidden desperation of its violence, it captures something about the space in which Tupac Shakur lived.’’ Others say that the film gave a great insight to Tupac’s life.
